Dr Alan Gaffney

Dr Alan Gaffney

Dr Gaffney is a practising Intensive Care Physician and Anesthesiologist working in a large University Teaching Hospital. He was previously the Associate Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic ICU at Columbia University Medical Center. He trained in Ireland, Guy’s Hospital in London, the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and Columbia University Medical Center in New York. He has an MSc in Clinical Trials from the University of London and a PhD in Pharmacology from Trinity College Dublin.

Nikola Nestorov

Nikola Nestorov

Mr. Nestorov is a senior executive with over twenty years of IT industry experience. In his most recent roles, Mr. Nestorov was responsible for the eHealth and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions of both large multinationals (Telefónica, S.A. and CK Hutchison Three), and a technology start-up (Net Feasa Limited) where he was COO. Mr. Nestorov holds an MSc in Health Informatics from Trinity College Dublin and an MEng degree in Telecommunications from the Technical University of Sofia. Mr. Nestorov is certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and an elected IEEE Senior Member.

John is CEO of 8 West Consulting, formerly known as DeCare Systems Ireland (DSI), a subsidiary of Anthem, Inc. He was General Manager of DSI for 19 years, from its foundation in 1998. John’s stewardship of 8 West has seen it grow from a small IT support organisation for its original parent company, through its metamorphosis to its current scale. 8 West provides business and technology solutions to global clients in the healthcare and retail space along with others who require high quality, scalable and maintainable software in fields ranging from publishing to community safety. 8 West is also the developer of SafeTrx, the world’s leading tracking and alerting solution for non-GMDSS vessels. John maintains a hands-on role in a wide spectrum of client projects within numerous industries. He has mentored and developed a talented management team who are among the best in today’s Irish IT industry. He is an acknowledged leader in the Irish software industry and a regular speaker at conferences and industry events.

Associate Professor, Kellstadt Graduate College of Business at DePaul University

Andrew S. Gallan (PhD, Arizona State University, Center for Services Leadership) is an associate professor of marketing at the Kellstadt Graduate College of Business at DePaul University, Chicago, IL. His research interests are in the areas of innovation, design, and patient experience in health care, which explore the transformative potential of services; and, the use of data analytics to uncover insights into innovative new business strategies. Andrew’s collaborations with a variety of health care organizations, including Mayo Clinic Arizona, Advocate Health Care, the Patient and Family Centered Care Innovation Center at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and University of Chicago Medical Center, have resulted in support for students, teaching, advising, and research. Dr. Gallan has published in Patient Experience Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, California Management Review, and other top services journals. Andrew is also principal of a patient experience analytics and advisory company, Dignity in Action, Inc.

Mike Fitzgerald

Mike Fitzgerald has 28 year of experience in software and wireless networking companies. Originally a software engineer at Ericsson Mike entered the business arena in 1991. He was a Vice President of two NASDAQ-quoted companies (ADC Telecommunications and interWAVE Communications), he carried out a Management Buy Out (Microcellular Systems Ltd.) in 1999, a trade sale (to interWAVE Communications) in 2000. He co-founded the indigenous Irish software company Altobridge Ltd (2002) and between 2000 to 2015 has been a founding investor or board member of several companies including; NewBay, AMCS Group, Mobinets, Mianach Venture Capital, Propylon, Blue Ocean Wireless, Cross Atlantic Productions. He graduated from University College Cork in 1988 (BA Special Honours (Computers and Mathematics)) and Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2008 (Leadership 4 Growth). In 2009, he was named Ernst & Young’s Irish Entrepreneur of the Year (Emerging category) and in 2012 a Technology Pioneer at the World Economic Forum.
